DALLAS, TX – Facing the need to win one of their last two games, the Ravens came out and dominated the Buffalo Bills in Dallas, TX. Starting up 7-0, the Ravens gave up a score to the Bills, only to dominate the Bills O with picks to the tune of 28-7.

Coach Stevens then retreated, raspy voice in hand, and the Ravens continued to pour it on against Coach GVD to the final of 45-14.

The Ravens move to 7-2 and clinch a spot in the Season 6 playoffs. Notably sitting on the outside is the Season 5 Super Bowl champion, Coach Kershaw. Maybe he shouldn’t have left Steeltown?

Much to the dismay of Coaches Burch, Ward, and Koutsouvanos, the New England Patriots eked out their seventh victory of the 2009 Madden VI season over the Washington Redskins, 27-20.

It was a very good battle. The Redskins held a 17-7 lead heading into the half and were set to receive the ball; however, on the opening drive Jason Campbell threw a mighty poor interception that Jonathan Wilhite took to the house for seven. The Patriots scored again on that pretty Brady to Moss connection after another defensive stand to go up 21-17.

The Skins retaliated with a quick field goal to tighten the gap to one, but the Pats again marched downfield leading to a Fred Taylor score. An ambitious Coach Kershaw went for two to try to make it a two possession game and got stuffed by Fat Albert Haynesworth, making the score 27-20 with about 2:00 to go.

Coach GVD took his battalion all the way down the field slowly and methodically, all leading up to one final play. With 0:02 to go from the Patriots’ 13, Coach Kershaw brought the house, hoping to get to Campbell before he could get the ball off. Instead, he threw the famous screen to a wide open Santana Moss, with blockers ahead. While everyone else on the field and sidelines thought Moss would be in for six and the tie game, Brandon Meriweather thought otherwise – he turboed his ass over to Moss, ducked around a lead blocker, and BOOM! Hit stick. Moss crumples to the ground at the two. Clock expires.

Patriots go to 7-3, and will keep their fingers crossed for Coach Kershaw’s third playoff birth in as many Madden seasons.

The Patriots earned their third consecutive victory on Thursday over the Minnesota Vikings by a score of 31-20. Tom Brady and Randy Moss had a nice spark for two scores, and Fred Taylor proved to be a weapon both on the ground and through the air while racking up 100+ yards and a TD.

Adrian Peterson is difficult to tackle, and scored all three Minny touchdowns while totaling 200+ total yards.

Donovan McNabb sucked balls the entire first half, digging his team into a

After some guy on my team took the kickoff 96 yards, Vick rushed into the
end zone for a TD on his first play of the game. The Steelers kicked a FG.

Vick then drove the field and threw a 43 bomb that got tipped twice and
caught at the 10 before rifling another TD into the end zone.

The Eagles killer D then made a 3-and-out stand with less than 2 minutes to
play in the 4th quarter. And Vick threw a 51 yard bomb for the game winning
TD to put the game out of reach.

New England showcased a stingy defense for the second consecutive week, limiting the high-octane Cards offense to only one score in the second half. Meanwhile, Tom Brady looked more like 2007 Tom Brady than he has at any point this season, at one point connecting with Randy Moss and Ben Watson on back-to-back offensive plays for 75+ yard TDs.

Fred Taylor added a lovely 10 yard touchdown on a FB fake HB toss that caught the defense off guard, and the Pats D had a 4th-quarter TAINT to stick a fork in it.

A tight game at the half (14-14) turned ugly late in the fourth quarter as the Ravens knocked off the upstart Miami Dolphins at Soldier Field. Led by three picks of Chad “Fuck it, I’m going deep” Pennington (Ray and Samari for taints, Dominique also getting in on the action), the Ravens pulled away to win 31-14.

Ronnie Brown had a solid day in the wildcat and Sal Fasano had a solid-er day dropping balls (pause). On Baltimore’s side, Ray Rice started the Ravens’ first possession with a 50 yard TD run and Mark Clayton ended the TDs with a 56 yard fly route.

OAKLAND, CA – Led by a ball-hawking defense that produced five (5!) INTs on the day, the Baltimore Ravens opened the sixth season of the W+K NY Madden League with a thorough 26-7 thumping of the Mauriello-led Falcons.

Ray Rice had a strong day on the ground with 13 carries for 109 yards and 2 TDs, while Samari Rolle and Dawan Landry both picked off Matty Ice twice. Terrell Suggs started off the INT festivities to put the Falcons in an early hole.

Reached after the game, Coach Mauriello clung only to the fact that he didn’t get shut out. Terrell Suggs, on the other hand, was a bit more ebullient, defiantly yelling “who wants to be the next one tossed on the rape wagon?”

The Pittsburgh Steelers reign supreme. In what proved to be a great game, the Steelers took down Vince Young and the Tennessee Titans by a final score of 17-14, securing the W+K Madden League Super Bowl V banner, and avenging last year’s heartbreaking title game loss. Santonio Holmes took the game’s MVP trophy, as he scored on a 70+ yard catch to ultimately put the game out of reach for the Titans.

The Steelers ended their 2009 run with 11 consecutive victories, and finished at 15-1.

Coach Kershaw has advanced to two Super Bowls in as many seasons at the helm of the Steelers, but his coaching future in Steeltown is hazy; while stating to the press that he’s happy to coach in Pittsburgh for as long as they’ll have him, reports from “sources close to the coach” say he’s interested in the currently-vacated New England Patriots post.

Titans vs Redskins

For everyone who is unaware exactly one week ago the Titans beat the Redskins 27-21 in OT to advance to W+K Madden Superbowl. So although this email is a little late here is what happened:

The first half was uneventful and ended with the Titans ahead 14-7. The Redskins scored on the first possession of the 2nd half and on the ensuing kickoff mercilessly used the hit stick on a return man who will not see the field during the Superbowl. The hit caused a fumble that was recovered by the 'Skins and returned for a touchdown, giving them their first lead of the game 21-14.

The Titans tied the game with 1:00 remaining and used a defensive stand, and a little bit of luck, to send it to OT. On the only drive of the extra period Chris Johnson and Lendale White accounted for every yard and the deciding TD.

Epic.

That’s about the only word that can sufficiently describe the semifinal matchup between the Steelers and the Bills that took place on Friday afternoon. Wild plays, lead changes, crucial turnovers, overtime … this thing had it all.

The Bills, behind Trent Edwards’ ruthless air attack, staked themselves out to a 13-0 lead. The Steelers narrowed it to 13-7 heading into the half, and were getting the ball back. After Pittsburgh went up 14-13 for their first lead of the game on that first possession, the Bills marched down the field yet again for a touchdown. The Steel Curtain D was feeling pretty demoralized, unable to get a stop … until they earned what turned out to be a HUGE stuff on the ensuing 2-point conversion attempt. 19-14 Bills, about four minutes remaining.

The Steelers marched down the field with relative ease, but get intercepted in the red zone off a tip drill with about 3:00 to go. After the Bills went three and out, Big Ben tried to go for the gold, throwing deep to Santonio, but got picked off again in the red zone. Despite thinking that would just about do his team in, Coach Kershaw stayed focused enough to call the run defense on 1st down, and it paid off. Casey Hampton stripped the ball from Marshawn, and some nameless fat fuck picked it up and ran it in for the score. The Steelers punched their 2-point conversion attempt in – 22-19 Steelers.

This is getting long-winded, so here’s how it ended:

Bills drive yet again and kick a field goal with :07 on the clock, tying things up at 22 and sending the game into OT
Bills win the toss … and go three and out
Steelers systematically march down the field to the 20, center the ball on the middle of the field … and Jeff Reed connects from about 35 yards out

Steelers win, 25-22, to advance to their second W+K Madden Super Bowl in as many seasons.

They’re also 14-1, and are hungry for a banner (and a fresh pair of kicks).

The W+K Madden League returned to gameplay with the Washington Redskins sneaking by their newest rival the Green Bay Packers. The Skins offensive attack continued to be non-existent, highlighted by Jason Campbell fumbling on the 1" line. The Skins did manage to kick 4 FGs on the day and the defense did the rest.

Steelers vs Vikings

In one of the craziest fucking Madden games ever, the Steelers took down the Vikings in the first round of the playoffs 31-28.

As you can see, there wasn’t much defense.

There were three crucial plays in the game:

Steelers returning a kickoff, Vikings make the hit and strip the ball … Heath Miller picks it up and runs it all the way in for a TD. Vikings interception of Big Ben to start the 2nd half and ultimately take a 21-14 lead. Troy Polamalu’s hit stick on Tavaris Jackson trying to scramble for a 1st down, forcing a fumble and setting up the game winning FG drive.

Steelers go to 13-1 (if that matters at this point), and are eager to avenge last year’s Super Bowl loss to Stevens and the Billz.

The Browns continued their scamper to the playoffs with a much needed W over the Giants. The G-Men but up an admirable fight in this one and had the lead well into the 3rd quarter. Brandon Jacobs managed to defecate on the Browns defense every time he time got the rock. Good thing the Brownies have Braylon Edwards. He must’ve popped some of that 5hr Energy before the game because he was the difference – to the tune of 250+yards receiving and 3 TDs.

Steelers vs Saints

The Steelers took care of business vs. the Saints in Jacksonville on Friday afternoon, winning by a final count of 34-7.

Pittsburgh put up 17 points in each half and played sound football on offense and defense, while Drew Brees connected with Reggie Bush several times out of the backfield on a 3rd quarter drive to spoil the shutout.

Play of the game was an 80-yard Willie Parker scamper for a score.

Steelers go to 12-1, and are looking forward to www.wkmadden.com power rankings and the playoffs.

After a hiatus of a few weeks or so the bills took down the saints in barnes-burning fashion. Up 27-0, the bills called a bunch of silly plays on D in the last :30 to allow barnes a dignity saving 14 points.

Dolphins vs Giants

In a match-up against the Giants, the Dolphins only priority was winning. Although it wasn’t easy, the Phins picked up the W for their first back to back victories of the season.

Ricky Williams, however, decided to make the game closer than it needed to be by fumbling with 20 ticks left on the clock. The Giants took a few shots downfield, but it ultimately wasn’t to be.
